The story unfolds in the form of an 85 year old man and an Alzheimer’s patient -- Ghazanfar Hussein -- living in a small town in UP, recalling the partition and its immediate as well as long-term aftermath in juxtaposition to the death of his wife a couple of days ago.
In the process, the old man’s non-academic non-descript personal memoirs of the partition question a range of stereotypes about it – its genesis, its causes, its effects – leading, finally, to exploring the unexplored facets of the tragedy.
