Aainaate weaves a story of female bonding between two women, who are very unlike each other. Urmila Sanyal (Rati Agnotri) and Malini (Rituparna Sengupta) are distanced in age, profession, social status, and lifestyle and yet get along with each other. While Urmila is a social activist and Malini a photojournalist, the professional bond that forms reflects in their personal lives as well. The movie is directed by Goutam Ghose.
